Like other classes, the Optimist has several levels of rigging depending on the sailors training, ambitions and commitment, but the hull is the foundation. McLaughlin's Optimist hull is well known for its stiffness, durability, and speed.
These packages take you from the entry level Club Racer to the world class Optisailors Pro Racer. We will be happy to quote you on a custom boat package that differs from the offerings below. On the Pro Racer, you can design your own hull with your own interior floor graphics, custom rail color, or a clear transom for modest upcharges.
When available you can save $200 by specifying a chartered hull. All the packages can be purchased in this manner with new rigging and Colie upgrades.

» Colie Safety Painter Loop supplied & installed (reduces the possibility of a loaded bowline snapping and causing severe eye injury)
» Harken Ratchet Block is supported by a RWO standup boot
» Harken Carbo Blocks for mainsheet tackle pulleys
» Upgraded Daggerboard Positioning System including heavy weight bungee led forward to mast partner with handle tube & Pro Shop hold-down strap for upwind board angle control
» Additional Hiking Strap Hold-up System (keeps straps elevated both front & rear)
» Mast Tie-in Line is extra long (makes it easier to tie the mast in tight & securely)

When outfitting and preparing an Optimist, we draw upon our experience and expertise to make each and every system work as smoothly and safely as possible. It is not any one specific thing - but a series of refinements, modifications and add-ons which result in an optimal package for your sailor.
Basically we equip and prepare each boat as if it were our own child's. It is called "attention to detail" and we do not fret about the additional time and expense, nor do we charge our customers for these upgrades.
